Why this summit

Recovery works best when everyone is in the same room

People recovering from cancer, addiction, injury or illness often move between many services. The people who provide recovery and the people who refer, fund and support it rarely get time together. This summit brings them together in Newcastle for two days of learning, honest conversation and practical connections, and one evening to celebrate the best rehabilitation and recovery work across the North of England.

The programme

Four recovery streams

  • Stream 1

    Cancer Recovery & Survivorship

    Life during and after treatment: prehabilitation, rehabilitation, exercise oncology, returning to work and emotional recovery.

  • Stream 2

    Addiction & Mental Health Recovery

    Treatment pathways and what comes after them: aftercare, support for families, and recovery from burnout.

  • Stream 3

    Physical & Neuro Rehabilitation

    Rebuilding movement, independence and confidence after stroke, brain injury, musculoskeletal and sports injury, and long COVID.

  • Stream 4

    Retreats, Prevention & Wellbeing

    Therapeutic retreats, complementary support, prevention and longevity, and the role of AI in rehabilitation and care.

What happens when

  1. A keynote speaker on stage in front of a mixed audience, including a wheelchair user

    Day 1

    Professional Day

    Keynotes, the four stream programmes, the exhibition and networking for professionals.

  2. A gentle seated breathing and stretching session for people of all ages

    Day 2

    Recovery & Retreats Day

    Open to the public, patients and families: retreat showcases, gentle experiential sessions, survivor stories and a charity panel. Free patient passes are available through partner charities.

  3. Guests at candlelit tables at the awards gala dinner

    Evening of Day 2

    Awards Gala

    Dinner and an awards ceremony recognising the best in rehabilitation and recovery across the North.

The city

Newcastle, October 2027

Newcastle upon Tyne is about three hours from London and ninety minutes from Edinburgh by train, with an international airport around twenty minutes from the city centre. We will announce the venue as soon as it is confirmed.
